How It Started
Mayhem Games was founded by May Lee-Yang, a Twin Cities-based Hmong American writer, performer, comedian, and educator. As a child of the '80s and '90s, May experienced and witnessed how racism forced Asians in the United States to hide parts of their identities in order to "pass" in American world.

How It's Going
May has spent her life creating stories that use comedy and pop culture to speak about race, gender, and identity. She created Mayhem Games as a place where Asians living in the United States could bask in laughter, community, and play--without feeling like they need to check parts of their identities at the door.
